I was born in San Francisco, California. I am the first-generation college student of my family and both of my parents are immigrants. I love to read and learn. One of the memories that I can remember growing up as a child in elementary school. I was always surrounded by people who have different backgrounds and I remember if they sounded different how they spoke. I would go out of my way to talk to them and greet them because growing up in a Hispanic home. I was taught to always be friendly and acknowledge others. If I did not understand a certain situation, then I tend to be curious of the current situation. Throughout my life I was always interested in connecting with others and what I can learn from them and willing to help them. One time in 3rd grade I got in trouble because I was telling another student who only spoke Spanish. We were learning how to write the type of animals that we would see and since the teacher did not know Spanish. She knew that I was telling the other student what a specific animal was in Spanish and told him how to write it in English. I have developed a huge passion and love to communicate with others and create fond friendships. Sports was one of the reasons that made me want to connect with others it began by watching the FIFA World Cup 2006. I remember hearing other languages and seeing flags that were different, and due to this tournament it helped me to learn about geography. In high school, I was a language assistant for Spanish and taught Freshmen in my Senior year. I was also involved in music theory and other music classes for fun and took Italian. I always felt that family is so important which is why being a Marriage and Family Study major has helped me to identify and know the patterns of how to maintain good relationships with people. Being at Brigham Young University Idaho has been a great experience and my major has taught me to communicate and be open-minded. Besides taking courses related to my major. I have taken French and plan to take more courses to help me branch out by having more opportunities.
