I am the lead Ruby on Rails instructor for the inaugural Web Development Highway cohort. We are training students to become future ruby software developers.

Providing Ruby on Rails development expertise. Focusing on development of a Client Portal and HotelEngine.com. Wrote Sabre and Amex gems to provide SOAP integrations with the Rails application. I was the senior rails developer on the project. I lead the project in the overall architecture and code structure; particularly toward embracing both TDD and SOLID design principles. I instructed a team primarily composed of junior developers on how to write both clean code along with test code coverage at both unit and functional test level using RSpec and Capybara. Provided integrations to Escrow Services via FundAmerica, Investor Accreditation w/ Crowdentials (later VerifyInvestor), and Legal document management via Docusign - at times utilizing Sidekiq/Redis and webhooks when appropriate. Designed backend state machine/workflow around mediator/services pattern for Investor / Investment lifecycle. Wrote advanced authentication/authorization subsystem utilizing Devise - Rolify - CanCanCan along with custom permissions to allow for dynamic and easily customized authorizations at a very granular level.

Over summers and long breaks during college I worked as a field surveyor conducting both boundary and topographic surveys. I consider this job extremely formative toward my future in technology. We didn't have lasers or theodolites, just a machete, chain, level, transit, plumb bob, and a Hewlett Packard calculator. Every boundary survey had to close in the field before we could leave the site or else we were back reshooting lines.
