Profile bio

About Jeremiah Cushman

I am a lifelong military history nerd with a passion for researching and writing about defense strategy, weapon systems and programs and international security. I am a highly skilled, detail-oriented writer, editor, researcher and analyst, with specific interests in the Baltic region, NATO and European security as well as U.S. and Canadian defense strategies and programs. (I grew up in Canada, sparking an interest in Canadian defense affairs as well as defense strategy in smaller countries more broadly.) I have explored these issues through numerous articles over nearly two decades. My writing has focused on a general audience, providing information and analysis on topics such as NATO summits, major weapon programs, strategy documents and conflicts.I edited a database of more than 7,500 weapon systems from around the world. This included researching the systems, writing up the information for a general audience and editing others writing for the database. I have an extensive knowledge of all types of systems, including aircraft, ships, artillery, ground vehicles, electronic systems and associated weapons. My attention to detail throughout the research and writing process enabled me to significantly improve the content in the database, adding information on weapon system characteristics, contract awards and operational performance as well as developing thorough chronologies of each system. I also updated the formatting throughout the database to ensure uniformity and that all information was presented clearly. I oversaw two analysts and several stringers, editing their work, monitoring deadlines and ensuring quality. I worked with them to improve their writing, research and analytic skills and knowledge of weapon systems, armed forces orders of battle and militant groups. I found working with young analysts and watching them grow to be very rewarding.I am actively seeking new opportunities and would love to connect. I can be reached at jdcushman@gmail.com.
