Graphic design and consultancy for hospitality. Since training with Yellow Pages Australia pre internet and working with print media and marketing at my University Union I've kept my hand in with graphic design. I am fortunate to have kept one fantastic major client for 3 years in Place Hotels Group: providing corporate image, online and print design, copywriting and working space design for bars and cafes. I've designed publications also for charities such as CREW, Edinburgh Social Enterprise Network and Friends of the Earth Scotland.

The addition of finance management to my existing enterprise role at CREW (see earlier entry to learn about CREW) and a step up in responsibility and also reporting to the board of trustees. I joined the GSK IMPACT award winning charity CREW to build and guide Crew’s enterprise activity. Crew has since become a GSK IMPACT Champion through cutting edge knowledge and innovation and deploys its highly professional team internationally to inform policy, deliver information, support and training that ultimately improves the lives of a huge section of the community and prevents so many from drugs and alcohol harm. Crew’s enterprise arm exists to grow that capacity and helps to secure its future by increasing independent income and professional engagement. It is a considerable honour to be involved & to date Crew's independent income is ten fold greater than when we began the programme and works in a number of fields including expert witness, training and e-learning, consultancy and sales of resources.Applying 12 years senior management & business start-up experience to this 3rd Sector role (a challenge & delight in equal measure!) this role has key responsibilities in:finance,implementing business systems,web, app and database development,customer relationship management,marketing & product development,creating & running national events andutilisation of new and social medias.

Involved in all aspects of business start-up including: establishing financial, legal, HR systems to allow PBL to begin to manufacture and trade in Fast Moving Consumer Goods. Designed and imported energy shot "Loaded," branded under licence after negotiating US production and negotiated continued production in the UK.

Roles in business planning, H&S, guest relations, HR, appraisals system & staffing, statutory training, development of hotel rooms & public areas, software supervision, maintenance, credit control & night audits, budget production, liaison with business & industry groups including community councils & Edinburgh Tourism Action Group (ETAG) & Sustainable Urban Tourism (SUTS), contractor management including minimization of maintenance & utility costs, maximizing sales, developing SOPs, Personal Licensee. Acting GM as required. Head & development of the Duty Management & Maintenance teams. Key role in the stable transition to Accor operations after the Hotel's sale and integral role in achieving the quality required for Edinburgh Hotel of the Year 2008 in just two years.

Demonstrated the potential of the Point Hotel to WG Mitchell & delivered the team to embark on its development, culminating in a sale profit in 3 years in excess of £2.3M, two years ahead of project schedule.
