In addition to being a business owner, I write and edit under the pseudonym, J.A. Dela Cruz-Smith. Since 2014 I’ve been at work on my debut collection of poetry, which wrestles toward expanding the historical context of Oceania’s ecological changes, systems of migrations, and persistent history of militarization in the region. The poems are informed by research conducted, in part, at the intersection of environmental studies and art history. My poems have been published individually in anthologies published by University of Hawai’i Press and national journals/magazines. My work has also been performed or read at museums and contemporary art centers on the West Coast.
