In my current role, I working on a programme aimed at 18-65 year olds in one of the city’s most deprived areas and highest areas of unemployment, working closely with Nottingham City Council, Nottingham City Homes, DWP Job Centre Plus and community partners.Previously I was the specialist for working with young people that are permanently excluded from mainstream education primarily for behavioral difficulties within the Nottingham City area.Provide careers information, advice/guidance and employability skills to unemployed adults resident in Nottingham City who are participating in the Get Ahead project. Delivering individual and/or group sessions to unemployed adults who are participating in the Get Ahead programme on job search, interview techniques, job seeking skills, CV development, personal development and career planning.Carry a caseload of Get Ahead clients’ co-ordinate and support their journey towards employment and training opportunities.

To engage with young people enabling them to identify and begin to address their needs by raising their aspirations and self confidence; removing barriers to learning and lifestyle and brokering access to a variety of services and by doing so enabling them to progress into education, employment and training.To work with young people, identifying their needs using appropriate assessment tools in order to overcome their barriers and ensure their progression into education, employment and training.To enable young people to clarify their learning and development needs and draw up individual action plans in line with Company policiesTo provide information, advice and guidance to all young people (aged 13-19) both one to one and in groups, in schools, colleges, work based learning, employment and those who are unemployed..To review work with individual young people to ensure that plans are achieved.keep up to date accurate records as a basis for regular monitoring and tracking progress of young people, embracing and optimising the use of ICT within the role.Where appropriate to actively involve parents/carers and families, enabling them to contribute to the support and progression of young people.Work in partnership with a range of voluntary, statutory and community agencies and refer young people where necessary.
