During my role as Director of IS Infrastructure, my primary objective was to determine and implement the vision of the network and server infrastructure for the long term. Taking into consideration business objectives that would enable optimal student learning. Ember Education owns and provides services for 3 colleges, San Joaquin Valley College, Carrington College and Santa Barbara Business College. We have about 40 locations that span across the western United States. Leading a sharp team of system and network engineers, we strategically implemented many efficiencies in the network as we worked to pave the way to a cloud-based infrastructure that makes sense from a cost perspective. Collaborating and coordinating between tier 2, tier 3 and external vendors, we worked to deploy barracuda SD-WAN, leveraging dual internet circuits to provide much more redundant and resilient services. In conjunction with other IT Directors and departments, the infrastructure team also successfully and rapidly pivoted service deployment to accommodate remote modality due to COVID response. During a normal week, you can find me having standing weekly 1:1s with direct reports and leaders. It’s my role to create relationships with vendors and evaluate whether our solutions are in alignment with the strategy of our colleges. Among other things, I placed focus on project management to ensure our initiatives hit target dates and deadlines. I could go on and on regarding initiatives I’ve been a part of, but the high octane engineers I lead deserve the credit for the work.

In my role as a Senior Developer and Systems Engineer, I initially had much focus targeted towards Azure IaaS design, including leading the charge to deploy Private Peering ExpressRoute to enable our MPLS network a direct connection to our Iaas Environment.Not long after my role change, SJVC Inc announced the acquisition plans of Carrington College, where my full attention turned to helping project plan that move. 2018-early 2019 was full of scoping out the foreign network and new systems, along with planning migration steps for the transition to an isolated environment from the previous parent company.

In my role as a Network Engineer at SJVC, I worked on the Network Operations team to help design, deploy, and maintain network solutions.Windows Server Administration Able to stand a new domain with multiple Domain Controllers, utilizing sites and services subnet configuration to optimize connectivity and replication. Forest OU design, User, Group, Computer and GPO object administration. I've had my share of war stories with ADMT and domain renaming. I've got AD covered with PowerShell administration along the way. I've deployed DFSR file services via namespaces, automating mapping to users with the help of GPOs and carefully designed AD SGs. During new campus provisioning, I took care of making sure the site had its set of Windows servers to begin operation. DC, Print, File, WSUS, WDS+MDT and Application servers. Full server configuration was my job role, and when that's done...you bet I was helping to design initial building network design, and terminating cable at faceplates/terminating cable at patch panels. You get it, I'm very comfortable working with Windows Server NOS and Server Administration. VMware vSphere Administrator Able to stand a vCenter environment from scratch for central administration of our ESXi Hosts. Clustered hosts and standalone at the campus level. Attach SAN or local storage, configure virtual networking via vS and vDS. From ordering the rack mountable servers, dealing with VMware licensing, to mounting the final product on the rack. I got you covered. VMware Horizon View Administrator Comfortable building Horizon View environment from scratch. How many users? If the necessary resources are paid for, I can ramp up VDI as needed. VDI accessible from Intranet or Public Web. Persistent and Non Persistent pools with personas + redirected files. GPOs for optimization, image creation for optimization, you name it.
