Dr. Robert Bonin's Sensory Plasticity Lab.Shared first-author publication in Molecular Pain on applications of a novel deep neural network, DeepLabCut, to track mouse locomotion and thermal sensitivity in an inexpensive assay built from scratch (Li, 2021). 11th author in a second publication in PAIN, which validated cage-lid hanging behaviour as a translationally-relevant measure of pain in mice (Zhang, 2021). Included in "Acknowledgements" section in a publication in Nature Scientific Reports, which evaluated a pain scoring system for mice (Cho, 2019).

Co-judge for the Institute of Medical Science's Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) final poster presentation day.

Instructed by Dr. Barbara Ballyk & Dr. Kristina Lisk. Taught workshops to 60-70 students, created digital lab manual chapters for future workshop sessions.

Dr. Mojgan Hodaie's Surgical Imaging Lab.Combining artificial intelligence with medical imaging and epigenetics to better understand clinical treatment for individuals with trigeminal neuralgia, the most common form of chronic neuropathic facial pain. Taught abroad in Shanghai, China to prepare Chinese international students for top private boarding schools throughout Canada. Worked a 9-to-9 schedule with roles as a residence don, teacher, and program coordinator. Single-handedly taught the entirety of the grade 6-12 mathematics and science curricula, while assisting other teachers with English and elective courses, such as Physical Education. Created course plans, lessons, assignments, tests, and report cards from scratch. Coordinated teaching schedules and responsibilities with other members of the teaching team. Marked submissions and tabulated grades, keeping track of each student's progress throughout the entirety of the program to create personalized course materials. Created an online database for handling student files via Google Drive.In non-academic aspects, I mentored students socially, where I taught interview and communication skills, how to dress in a presentable fashion for professional settings (e.g. tying ties, wearing dress clothes, polishing dress shoes), and emphasized self-discipline skills (e.g. scheduling, keeping track of deadlines using a calendar, limiting distractions while working).During the pandemic, I taught students in a similar fashion, but in one-on-one online formats, using PowerPoint to create lesson slides, and DingTalk and WeChat to communicate, deliver lessons, and organize teaching materials.
