Working with these facilities provides me with a breadth of experience in both discrete and continuous manufacturing of composite and plastic products.My highlights within this role include: • Leading process improvement projects to reduce scrap and quality defects, contributing to six-digit annual savings. • Championing lean cultural change reaching 100+ employees at three facilities in Alberta. • Coordinating between operations and engineering to conduct product trials to support research and development and to commercialize new product series. • Revamping manufacturing data collection through dashboards and maintaining our ERP system. • Utilizing the DMAIC methodology to identify and improve manufacturing throughput. • Applying statistical methods to define process capabilities and to optimize manufacturing processes.

In this unique opportunity working as a remotely managed intern, I had the autonomy to implement out-of-the-box ideas to improve process performance while receiving insightful mentorship in lean manufacturing. My highlights in this role include: • Implemented key performance indicators (KPIs) and set annual targets to provide business insight and drive continuous improvement. • Created 30+ standard operating procedures (SOPs) to reduce the defect and scrap rate, while improving the safety of our manufacturing process. • Developed an optimized process sequence to deploy computer integrated manufacturing in a labour-intensive manufacturing process. • Analysed our manufacturing process using flow charts, value stream mapping (VSM), resource/capacity analysis, and PMFEAs to identify opportunities for improvement. • Conducted cost-benefit and replacement analyses for purchasing new equipment to improve asset reliability.
