As a community development specialist for the Washington University Medical Center Redevelopment Corporation, my primary responsibilities involve community engagement, technical assistance, and data analysis and mapping using GIS software.I currently maintain our internal data that is used to help neighborhood residents and stakeholders make informed decisions about where they live. Using GIS, R, and other open source software I am developing automated processes that generate routine reports that remain consistent and are easily understood. My detailed responsibilities include: • Administering the organization’s intern program and projects.• Providing oversight and re-organization of historical project data and organizational files.• Compiling annual reports to communicate the mission and work of our organization, and the place-based community development happening in our communities. • Implementing automated processes for data tracking and reporting. • Manage ArcGIS online database and web mapping applications.• Strategize and facilitate community stakeholder meetings for proposed special taxing districts to provide additional resources and leverage stakeholder investment in their communities. • Providing technical assistance to local community development corporations to build systemic and organizational capacity in St. Louis City.

As a community development intern I assisted the project managers and executive director of Washington University Medical Center in compiling reports, running data analyses, and collecting data in the field. These projects all assisted the mission of the organization by providing detailed information about the neighborhoods surrounding the medical campus, allowing residents and neighborhood stakeholders to make informed decisions regarding the development of their communities.

Working as an research intern for the St. Louis Regional Chamber I assisted the economic development research team with monthly reports on local area unemployment data.My main project consisted of compiling a report on the St. Louis Metropolitan area in regards to local demographic data. This report was used to assist the educational attainment team in an effort to understand the St. Louis region and provide preliminary information for further projects.
