I am based in the Research Department of Behavioural Science and Health, within the Institute of Epidemiology & Health Care at UCL. I am working with Daisy Fancourt and colleagues on the EpiArts project, funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, Bloomberg Philanphropists, and the OneFlorida Trust. The project aims to investigate the association between arts and cultural engagement and behavioural and health outcomes using US cohort data. I also supervise MSc and PhD students and teach on various modules in the department.

As the research assistant for the Community Navigator Study, I developed and tested a new intervention for people with complex depression or anxiety who feel lonely or socially isolated. Working with the McPin Foundation, in collaboration with staff from specialist secondary mental health services and experts by lived experience, I developed this programme of support to help people increase community connections and reduce their feelings of loneliness.

Working on the CIRCLE trial, delivering contingency management and psychoeducation interventions to those with first episode psychosis who use cannabis.

South Camden Rehabilitation & Recovery Team

I worked as part of a team who provide a range of services to promote recovery and social inclusion to adults with serious and long term psychosis in the Camden area. This involved assisting healthcare professionals in diagnosing, treating and caring for patients.

All my waitressing positions involved being a hostess, silver service, food and drink service and food preparation. I often managed a team of waiters and have worked as a restaurant manager. It was my responsibility to ensure good service was given and customers’ high expectations were met.

I spent this time working on developing a novel, ecologically valid behavioural measure of attentional bias to emotional stimuli. I also learnt how to administer and score various clinical measures and tested a new cognitive training app developed in partnership with the Emotional Disorders and Mental Imagery Group at the MRC Cognition & Brain Sciences Unit (University of Cambridge).

As Course Secretary, I was the main point of contact between the main office and everyone else on campus. This involved matters relating to both students and staff, requiring clear communication skills and an understanding of how the departments worked. I was responsible for general day-to-day administration duties in addition to acting as a Personal Assistant to the Centre Manager. I also helped to run social activities for the 500 students on campus.
