At AF, I was a teacher, who held many other roles: --I was one of our network Curriculum Fellows, responsible for leading all the Algebra I teachers in our network to prepare for upcoming Units, communicate with them, and help synthesize instructional needs to ensure alignment to standards and curriculum. --I was an Instructional Coach, overseeing the entire learning process for teachers in the STEM department. We went through lesson plan feedback rounds, practiced upcoming lessons, did observation cycles, and completed professional development. --I was part of the Teacher-Leader committee, working with the leadership team and other high-impact teachers to develop and modify school-wide policies related to schedules, student and staff expectations, and student behaviors.--Most uniquely, I taught the 2024-2025 school year remotely. I zoomed into my school each day to lead instruction entirely virtually, and this resulted in 30% higher student mastery than the traditional classrooms in the network district. --Recognized as a Master Teacher in 2019 and Distinguished Teacher in 2021, the highest accomplishments in the Achievement First network.

I was a fourth and fifth-grade teacher, that also:--Held weekly meetings with the fifth-grade level team teachers, enrichment teachers, and school leadership to make data-driven decisions about instruction, interventions, and other learner needs.--Worked on a Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports Committee (PBIS) to develop behavior expectations and strategies to prevent poor decision-making.--Mentored beginning teachers and student teachers early in their careers to develop goals, and analyze data and classroom behavior, to create plans to encourage growth.--Was recognized as Teacher of the Year after having the highest math scores in the school, and teaching with unique individualized and technology-supported stations.

-Developed the 4th-grade Scope and Sequence and quarterly benchmark assessments, meticulously aligning them with state curriculum standards for the Math Investigations Mathematics Curriculum, impacting 10 elementary schools in the Hoke County School District.-Honored as one of the 10 Beginning Teachers of the Month in the Hoke County District for achieving outstanding learner performance outcomes as a first-year educator.-Partnered with the 4th grade-level team to create comprehensive math and science instructional plans for 120 learners, ensuring cohesive and effective learning experiences.-Designed and implemented a specialized curriculum to support the district’s 20 most struggling learners, successfully preparing them for end-of-grade assessments.-Created test preparation curriculum and study incentives for the grade level, enhancing learner engagement and achievement.

-Secured a full-time interim position as a fourth-grade social studies educator from January to June, ensuring seamless transition and maintaining rigorous instructional standards**The position ended due to budget cuts affecting all beginning teachers. I was asked to return after I had already taken a position in a new county.

-Gained valuable experience as a student teacher in fourth-grade mathematics, developing and implementing curriculum-aligned lesson plans that fostered student engagement and achievement.-Completed a fourth-grade mathematics internship, adapting and implementing the Math Investigations Curriculum to enhance student learning outcomes.-Developed and delivered interactive lessons using SMART Notebook technology to facilitate daily learning experiences for a diverse group of 60 learners.
