I create all of the communications for the transportation department of the largest school district in Colorado. It’s a big job, and I love it. I put together communications that are meant for parents, schools and transportation employees. When I noticed morale was going down in our department, I started a monthly newsletter for our employees. It highlights different people every month so we can get to know each other better. It also includes a place where we can share kudos and shoutouts to coworkers who make our days just a bit better. Besides the fun aspects of my job, I also deal with parents. Transportation isn’t often a fan-favorite, but I know how to talk rationally with upset parents and school leaders. I do a good job of resolving stressful situations so everyone gets the information they need. I also manage the Transportation Services website for the school district. I also help organize trainings/presentations by creating slide decks. I also often lead or facilitate the trainings.

I took a gamble on a startup company and became their contracted copy editor. Unfortunately, the startup didn’t find the success everyone had hoped it would. Despite my short time there, I enjoyed what I did. I edited for a website that helps parents find the right preschool. I edited the summaries of each school to fit the website’s style. I also fixed grammatical mistakes.

I produce the 6:00 A.M. newscast. I pick the stories, write the scripts, pick videos and manage the show from the control room.

I produce the 5AM show. It's an hour, but doesn't feel like it. I keep the show fast-paced with a lot of movement so it doesn't feel like a stuffy, boring show. We often have breaking news, so I know how to handle that, but I'm also great with the lighter stories too. I keep the show balanced.

Greenville, South Carolina Area

I started off producing the first two hours of our four-hour morning show. I would pick and stack the show, as well as assign reporter stories. I dealt with breaking news and went with the flow as it came in. After two years, I was promoted to the 11PM show. That was an exciting change, as I got to deal with stories as they developed and evolved.

Alexandria, Louisiana Area

I put together the 6 and 10 PM newscasts. I picked what stories to run; what order they went in; which anchor reads them; what camera shots to use; write; post to the Web-- and so much more.

I was a section editor at this city-wide, weekly magazine. I pitched story ideas, edited, wrote and kept on top of reporters.
