I am from Northeast Pennsylvania and I obtained a B.S. of Biochemistry from Northeastern University in the class of 2015. During my time at NU, I was fortunate to work in the lab of Phyllis Strauss studying the DNA damage base excision repair pathway within the context of zebrafish early embryogenesis. Also while at NU, I worked as an intern for New Venture Labs within Moderna Therapeutics located in Cambridge, MA. I learned to develop my skills in experimental design by developing ELISA­ and western-­blot based assays to determine the binding specificity and pharmacokinetics of mRNA encoded novel protein therapeutics in vivo. I also detected non­-homologous end joining (NHEJ) in vitro to confirm sequence specific double-stranded DNA cutting. After graduation, I was hired full time by New Venture Labs at Moderna and work primarily within the proteins sciences to characterize protein-protein interactions and express & purify proteins for discovery efforts. I am continuing to be trained as a protein scientist and look forward to the future of my scientific career.
