At Purdue I found new contact sites between human erythrocyte proteins ankyrin and the anion exchanger-1 (band 3). To elucidate these interactions I used unprecedented technology and research methods, including in-silico docking, gene mutation/amplification, erythrocyte membrane preparation (mouse and human), synthesis, chromatography, electrophoresis, protein folding analysis (circular dichroism), raised antibodies for the purpose of Western and Pull-down assays, performed kinetic and binding assays, and performed fish-bait analysis (LC/MS/MS) to name a few. I also defended my research in publications to peer-reviewed journals, and presented at scientific conferences.
