After finishing a two-year internship with the program, I have been promoted to EMU Changing the Cycle's Program Manager. As Program Manager, I am responsible for overseeing program ambassadors, securing funding from the university to purchase period products to freely distribute, as well as organizing and facilitating events to spread awareness about period poverty and destigmatize menstruation.

EMU Changing the Cycle is an organization committed to ending period poverty on EMU’s campus and advocating for period literacy and awareness. As an ambassador for EMU CTC, I:- Engage with different audiences to discuss period poverty and its implications- Plan and execute different events designed to spread awareness and understanding of period poverty.- Manage the social media platform, utilizing it as a means to educate on period poverty and advertise advocacy events

As a residential care technician, I am responsible for ensuring that clients follow their therapy schedules, document their behavior, and conduct safety and security searches. I am stationed in the residential building with mothers, pregnant women, and women with traumatic experiences related to men. This allows me the unique opportunity to see firsthand how issues like domestic abuse, substance abuse, and other forms of trauma can affect women.

In the Substance Use Prevalence and Experiences in Relationships Laboratory (SUPER Lab), I have the opportunity to engage with my research interests in sexuality, interpersonal relationships, and gender-based violence and learn field-related technical skills including proficiency in SPSS, RedCAP, and other surveying and statistical skills. I am currently working with the lab director, Dr. Elizabeth Neilson, to create a study of my own design that explores the online dating experiences of women and non-binary people to investigate potential associations to factors such as gender-based violence, sexual risk-taking, and dating violence.
