Short term contract position, responsible for the creation and editing of Standard Operating Procedures and protocols necessary for a clinical biotechnology laboratory to operate. SOPs and protocols covered micro and molecular biology topics in addition to general lab topics.

The Resolution Bioscience platform is used to identify pertinent genetic mutations from circulating tumor DNA in blood samples. The assay leverages molecular biology and Next Generation Sequencing along with a proprietary bioinformatics pipeline to detect all four types of mutations in patients and identify actionable targets. My responsibilities include processing clinical and research samples with the assay and generating and delivering reports to stake holders. Other responsibilities include development and implementation of analytical validation of new assays and protocols, QC failure tracking and trending for the CLIA lab, and development of tools for automating some tasks using Python and SQL.

Research Associate-AST: Responsibilities include planning and management of antibiotic sensitivity testing (AST) development efforts to expand the antibiotic panel on the Accelerate PHENO™ system. This was done primarily via broth microdilutions (BMD) and disk diffusion methods. Other responsibilities include data management with Microsoft Excel and writing macros via Excel VBA for isolate selection as well as writing protocols and developing assays to document and execute experiments. Research Associate: Responsibilities include growth, maintenance, and banking of isolates, inoculation and preparation of blood cultures and preforming various conventional molecular and proprietary ID/AST system tests on blood cultures. Duties also include preparing and reading BMDs. Supported analytical studies for FDA submission and helped execute portions of a clinical trial.

Research was focused on incidence and control of environmental pathogens using a variety of techniques that are culture, molecular, and microscopy-based. Work centered around sample processing and analysis as well as field implementation of experiments.

Responsible for implementation of pilot projects concerning sustainable wastewater treatment in coordination with the lab of Dr. Charles P. Gerba at the University of Arizona. Projects are carried out at the the Green Valley Waste Water Treatment Facility.
