Jesse Velazquez is a Quality and Food Safety Supervisor at 80 Acres Farms and is working to improve his community through disrupting the current model of our food system and create a more equitable and healthier food system for people and the planet.His previous work in executive management taught him the impact that leadership can have through effective engagement with stakeholders. He started at an entry-level position and was promoted multiple times, ultimately to the position of General Manager of a $19 million retail store, where he consistently increased sales and margin over prior years. He reduced operational expenses by managing payroll and implementing cross-functional practices to maximize supply and energy efficiency. He reduced turnover by improving recruiting and coaching practices and creating a positive work environment for a store of over 150 employees. He improved yearly inventory shrink/loss results through better employee training and monthly upkeep, as well as improving internal safety audit scores through implementing a safety committee to review monthly practices. He built influential relationships in multiple communities through outreach partnerships with charities, city municipalities, and external vendors, ex. BB&T Atlanta Tennis Open, Susan G. Komen For the Cure, Dress for Success Atlanta, Atlanta Women’s Expo at Georgia World Congress Center, Oxford Chamber of Commerce, City of Oxford Police Dpt., United Way, Ronald McDonald HouseJesse has a degree in Communications from Valencia College and is in his final year of a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sustainability from Florida International University. His experience in the business sector, as well as his educational background, can help companies better understand how to improve their relationship to their clients, employees, investors, community, and the environment.
