After graduating from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology, I began my career as a researcher on the Human Genome Project, and went on to work in various biotech and pharmaceutical companies over the following decade. During this time, I had the opportunity to be part of some amazing projects without realizing that I was being exposed, in a profound and lasting way, to the discipline of project management. In my final years as a researcher, it was my privilege to lead small teams charged with gathering critical drug screening data as the first step toward discovering promising new medicines. My interest in and aptitude for leading dynamic, project-focused teams became apparent at that time, and I soon transitioned to supporting my fellow researchers as their informatics program manager overseeing development of data analysis applications and management of research data. I quickly recognized how risky and complicated the software development process can be and began to leverage formal project management processes to help ensure success.Today, I am an exceptionally versatile, organized and skilled project and program management consultant with over 15 years’ experience in a diverse array of industries including: pharmaceutical, chemical, footwear, healthcare, real estate and high technology. I have been routinely identified as a top management consultant in each of these environments, due in large part to the extraordinarily high level of accountability I take for each engagement’s ultimate success, as well as the expertise, tools and knowledge I employ as part of each effort. In addition, I reliably help my clients build and maintain strong teams by ensuring a professional, organized and stable environment in which people can predictably and sustainably execute project and program work.
