The development aspects of my role see me working alongside the team developing web-based solutions to problems faced by the business, as well as engaging in a steady amount of development, peer review and unit testing.There is also an interpersonal aspect as we have platforms to help team members including myself grow as developers through such thing as 121 meetings and code/ project reviews in order to see where improvement or growth can occur. This system serves to provide a means for all 200+ employees to find information, services and other employees.- Building a careers portal to facilitate the acquisition of new employees through our own internal platform.- Setting up and implementing the use of version control for the web team via BitBucket. As a Junior Web Developer at Newable I assisted the rest of the web team during our move from Greater London Enterprises to Newable. This involved building a new corporate site (https://newable.co.uk/), transferring smaller sites to become part of the main site and migrating other GLE web assets to Newable.

A Student Champion has many equal roles to that of an Ambassador but some roles are more social in terms of assisting the public.

As a Student Ambassador my role was to promote the University. I gave campus and accommodation tours as well as helped at events such as visit days, UCAS days and the Graduation Ceremonies.One such task was to go with a group of others to a school where we would help year 7 students take part in the Lego League. I and others did this consecutively as an after school activity 1 day a week for roughly 9 weeks.During this time we were each given a group of four students to assist through various tasks such as robot building, problem solving and research. Every other week I and a team of others run a Computing Workshop for students in Stage 1. This involves answering questions, solving problems and giving general advice.

At Ultra IT I was an assistant developer helping to maintain a variety of different sites for our clients. These sites where created using ASP.NET. As time progressed I moved on to programming with PHP and MySQL creating plugins to accomplish necessary tasks. Two such plugins where a feed exporter and importer: one which used PHP to create XML feeds from database tables and the other which used SimpleXML and looping to insert data from an XML file in a remote location to our database.
