Ensured timely and accurate GAAP-basis and tax-basis monthly reporting by training management and staff, detail-reviewing financials, and continuously improving the efficiency of the monthly accounting close process.Supervised, managed, and developed client accounting department personnel by analyzing and reporting staff capacity and assisting the Controller in directing workflow.Prepared monthly financial statements and reconciliations when required during work capacity fluctuations while maintaining oversight duties and managing short- and long-term projects and committees.Onboarded 5 million sq ft commercial real estate portfolio comprised of 26 properties by hiring much of the initial team, establishing client-specific monthly cash projection and lender funding request templates, and remaining the primary accounting oversight and client contact. Created the Portfolio Onboarding Checklist and Guide to serve as a template for other teams in future large onboards across the department.Managed yearly audits of clients’ financial statements conducted by external auditors. Assisted Controller in ensuring resources and duties are allocated effectively between accountants, centralized accounts payable and accounts receivable teams, and a third-party data-entry group. Led the Quality Control and Consistency Committee to ensure all department-wide forms remained updated and were being implemented correctly to maintain strict internal controls and clean SOC1 report. Created and implemented a Microsoft Planner to track form reviews, testing, and feedback. Documented procedures for reviews and streamlined sub-committee structure and workflow.Developed training for accountants and managers on topics such as lender draws and funding, equity transactions, REIT’s, work in process and placing assets in service, general ledger entries, proper balance sheet support, goal setting, Excel applications, and how to provide difficult feedback to direct reports.
