I currently serve as a Program Manager overseeing energy and water efficiency initiatives at air traffic control facilities. My focus is on resilient operations - connecting and coordinating with FAA's dedicated regional and local personnel to improve facility performance and reduce environmental impact. Responsible stewardship and addressing environmental challenges to improve our joint future is my goal.

The aviation industry has changed a lot in the last few years but now, more than ever before, it's important to find a way to promote sustainable aviation, improve performance at federal buildings, and address the challenges of climate change through planning for resilient operations! I worked with multiple Energy and Environment Programs within the FAA to improve energy and water efficiency at air traffic control facilities and manage environmental risks.Improving operations begins with strategic planning and goal setting to meet federal mandates for energy efficiency and environmental stewardship. I helped Programs keep track of ever evolving mandates including rulemakings and Executive Orders, develop sustainability related policy and guidance translating requirements into actionable programs, and track and report annually on performance. Incorporating sustainable requirements, Orders, and policies into mission critical operations can be a challenge for any mission driven Agency. I assist the energy program in coordinating with other HQ Programs, regional organizations, and local facilities on implementation of policies to improve efficiency, resiliency, and sustainability. This includes everything from managing annual greenhouse gas reporting, supporting performance contracting initiatives, and assessing sustainable federal buildings to local energy project implementation and managing utility data. There's something uniquely satisfying in assisting a facility with an EISA 432 energy and water evaluation, working through the budget and contracting for an identified energy project, and then being able to successfully report on energy reductions during the annual cycle the next year.

Environmental stewardship is a core tenet of all government activities. I have supported federal clients such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Architect of the Capitol (AOC), and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS/FEMA) with identifying and managing environmental risks and compliance, most often through the implementation of Environmental Management Systems (EMS). I have a broad background in providing support for Environmental Assessments and reviewing Environmental Impact Statements prepared in compliance with NEPA, developing technical environmental management and compliance guidance for federal facilities, and providing trainings on environmental regulations.

I started my career supporting the EPA and helping the regulated public understand environmental reporting and remediation requirements. As a new consultant, it was my job to review environmental legislation relating to spills, clean-up, and toxic chemicals and help the public with questions on compliance. The skills I learned answering questions on CERCLA, OPA, TRI, SDWA, etc. have been foundational to my career successes in environmental policy and compliance.

I also began my career supporting the DOT and helping the regulated public understand hazardous materials transportation requirements. As a new consultant, it was my job to review transportation requirements for classification, packaging, and transportation of hazardous materials.
