Jessica Royle Work Experience Details
  • Uklc
    Dance Instructor
    Uklc Jul 2023 - Present
    Reading, England, United Kingdom
UKLC provides residential and homestay English language and activity programmes for students aged 8-17 years. Their aims are simple: to Educate, Inspire and Enrich future generations. This summer I became a Dance Instructor to young people wanting to improve their English language skills. I have really enjoyed my time in getting to work with 11 - 16 year olds in the dance studio, teaching choreography and setting tasks for co-creation and I've learnt the words for left & right in Italian, Polish, Korean, Portuguese & French to name a few! Being in the centre of the programme as an SAI has given me more in-depth and meaningful participation as Dance is a universal language. Thanks to the team at Queen Anne's Reading for their support.

  • West End In Schools
    Workshop Lead
West End In Schools Feb 2019 - Present
    London, United Kingdom
Working in World Book Week for WEIS I travelled to schools to deliver performance workshops in KS1 and KS2. The pupils developed their imaginations and communication skillsets by retelling stories through Dance. This involved picking up choreography and using their dramatic knowledge to express emotions. A lot of partner work and group inclusivity meant that new working relationships were formed in classes. Everyone had so much fun and I felt the layout of the workshops were a great way to nurture talent and young creative minds.

The summer programme supported the pupils in their quest for UCAS points. I found that a lot of waves were excited about The Challenge and liked to use their story-telling techniques to share with us in different mediums.Social Mixing and helping their community partners was the main aim and I saw a lot of leadership skills and positive energy that is not always given / perceived in young adults. The future is bright and I loved being involved as a Creative Workshop Facilitator.
