Participated in various statewide advisory and stakeholder groups to support the mission of creating stronger, healthier communities, families and individuals. Conducted research and literature reviews for projects such as the NJ State Police revamped gang prevention program. Evaluated program report data to glean successes, lessons learned, and identify areas for growth. Managed 15 month $200,000 CDC chronic disease prevention grant in New London County, Connecticut:• Engaged and coordinated a multi-disciplinary coalition of agencies who work with resource limited mothers and children to garner collective impact of existing programs/resources • Researched, compiled information and data, and wrote Community Health Needs Assessment and Community Action Plan (CAP) using input from coalition. Designed surveys and analyzed results to try and understand lived experiences of target population.• Developed and maintained budget, responsible for monthly reports on budget and CAP progress• Coordinated rollout of evidenced based interventions with various public/private partners• Created toolkits for providers, employers, and families to support initiation and duration of breastfeeding• Planned and executed a cross-sector county forum on the state of breastfeeding rates and support • Planned and implemented first Baby Café in Connecticut• Developed relationships and participated in a team to draft and pitch new legislation

Supported county health needs assessment:• Analyzed data from state phone survey of 16,000 residents • Found data gaps and researched secondary data to create a full picture of the needs in the area• Coordinated focus group process• Member of multi-disciplinary team for the creation of a 10-town Community Health Needs Assessment document, prioritization of needs process, creation of Community Health Improvement Plan with focus on private/clinical-community linkages Assisted in administrative functions of various grant funded projects: • Falls prevention – created and managed timeline for training program, reviewed and updated training assessment tool, conducted training on tool, assisted in coordination of annual active senior living expos• USDA farm to school initiative– conducted farmer surveys, input and analyzed data from farmer and child surveys• Conducted a two year investigation of concerns over whether or not fluoridated water is still relevant, culminating in an MPH thesis• Analyzed beach water sampling data in relation to rain water to consider more efficient beach closure procedures

• Assisted in coordination of comprehensive asthma management pilot program – in partnership with local hospital and schools, attended coalition meetings, reviewed best practices to create and update asthma control assessment tools, provided support to community health worker• Researched and wrote grant opportunities for community-clinical linkages

Center for Civic Engagement: Created and implemented plans to recruit/select qualified students for enrollment in the Bonner/AmeriCorps program. Oriented and provided mentorship for students working with disadvantaged youth, homeless, first generation college students and those in need to enhance their service experiences and tie it back to their academic areas of study. Oriented and managed relationships with civic engagement and community organizations for events as well as student site placement within these organizations. Student and staff training material coordination and creation, covering material for staff, students and site supervisors. Scheduled, planned and coordinated events for The Center, executed successful orientations, retreats and weekly team building meetings as well as professional development workshops. Created and distributed quarterly metrics reporting for AmeriCorps, The Bonner Foundation and the College. Attended local and national conferences/workshops through various organizations and university systems. Developed and coordinated campus and community days of service, a national emergency medical shelter, and community conferences with local municipal and state officials. Created and presented a proposal to implement Service Learning at the college, and upon approval, managed a pilot service learning course sponsored by the Chair of History & Social Science Department. Responsibilities included maintaining a curriculum as well as interfacing with community organizations and students. Founding team member creating new leadership development program for students.
