Whilst covering temporarily within the team, I immersed myself quickly into the role to ensure a highly efficient, customer focused service. Whilst managing the areas of Sarn, Bryncethin and Heol Y Cyw, I quickly built a great relationship and rapport with the tenants of my area. It was my duty to be proactive and informative to ensure tenants were empowered and able to maintain and sustain their tenancies.

As a Housing Support Officer, I worked directly with individuals and families who were either homeless and in temporary accommodation or threatened with homelessness within 56 days. I sought both to maintain tenancies that were at risk, and source sustainable and affordable accommodation in the private rented sector for those who were already homeless.

My role as a Housing Solutions Assistant (HSA) was to provide support and resource to the Housing Solutions Advisors on their investigation into new cases, client follow-up telephone contact and sourcing temporary and interim accommodation with a view to maximising homeless prevention and minimising street homelessness. One of my biggest successes during my time within the team was when I developed an initiative to reduce the pressure on our temporary accommodation. I started a weekly property search that I sent out to the team and service users. This consisted of privately rented properties that were difficult to source. This search not only encouraged service users to complete their own searches and engage with their reasonable steps, but also allowed the Local Authority to build a rapport with landlords and agents in the Bridgend area. This proved to be very successful in our prevention statistics and as planned, reduced the reliance on temporary accommodation.

My role within Trivallis was secured via an Internship programme via Cardiff University. I worked within the Service Improvement Team at Trivallis to assist with the delivery of corporate and community programs. One of my biggest successes there was the successful planning of the 2017 Tenant Fun Day event as well as co-producing all of the advertisement materials to market the event.On a daily basis, I: Sought to establish good working relationships with partner organisations; Took part in events planning and associated administrative work relating to this; Took part in site visits, to gain a wider view on new development plans and scope for community regeneration and was responsible for the communications within the team, sharing success and information.

My part time footwear sales role allowed me to develop confidence in the new products I had been introduced to selling. I was continuously pushed out of my comfort zone in regards to product knowledge, as well as striving to achieve set targets. It was vital that I was aware of KPIs and company targets in order to produce a high standard of work for the business. I loved getting to know customers and their stories so that I could provide them with a tailored experience. As well as this, my part time employment alongside full time education has allowed me to develop outstanding time management.
