I didn’t grow up thinking, “I want to be a recruiter when I grow up.” In college I chose to major in Sociology because I found it fascinating and I knew that I wanted to help people. I thought HR would be a good start to helping people, but I had no idea that HR could be so broad and I was lucky enough to stumble upon recruiting. I had found a career where I could help people; I not only help hiring managers find the right talent, I help people find careers and sometimes help them find opportunities that they didn’t even know existed.I enjoy the many challenges that recruiting offers, from working with many different clients with different personalities (no 2 hiring managers are the same!) to convincing a passive candidate that they should talk to me and my hiring manager. Each job opening presents a different challenge. I enjoy building relationships with managers, understanding their needs and delivering a strong diverse slate of talent. Over my 15+ years of recruiting I have developed a strong ability to build sourcing strategies. There is no greater feeling than the feeling of finding a passive candidate, selling the opportunity, convincing them to meet with a manager, making that candidate an offer, and ultimately hearing from both the manager and candidate/hire that they have found a great match all thanks to me! There is no doubt that the recruiting industry has changed over the years and continues to evolve with technology. I have learned to leverage technology for recruiting as it has created amazing efficiencies, but I believe that recruiting is an industry that impacts people and their lives, which will always involve a human touch.
