Nawayee Center School serves primarily Native American youth in grades 7-12 in the Phillips neighborhood, the heart of the Minneapolis Native American community. Founded in 1972 in response to the need for culturally appropriate education, Center School integrates Indigenous culture, history and language into all aspects of its programs.Researched and identified funding opportunities from government, foundation, corporate and other institutional sources. Significant grants written and program management duties included:-$1.25 million dollar multi-year grant through SAMHSA to implement mental health and arts therapy services-USDA farm to school grant that allowed us to invest in our community garden and collaborate with Dream of Wild Health to create an indigenous food share program-ANA funding to support a $900,000 multi year Ojibwe and Dakota language programs and experiential learning opportunities to sacred sites

One Heartland is a national non-profit organization committed to greatly improving the lives of children, youth and their families living with HIV/AIDS, Type 2 Diabetes, Homeless and LGBTQ Youth Nationwide. Led efforts to build and maintain relationships with corporate and foundation partners. Managed the entire grant process, from writing persuasive proposals to overseeing submissions and tracking outcomes. Wrote compelling stories in grant applications for various sectors, including public, private, and corporate foundations.

Prepared grant proposals for general operating and programmatic support for a variety of nonprofit client organizations. Compiled, wrote and edited grant applications, letters and queries. Reviewed the budget of projects or programs for which funding is sought and made recommendations for improving presentation to funders. Researched current statistics and demographics to update language for proposals to more closely match foundations interests and requests.

Can Do Canines is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities by creating mutually beneficial partnerships with specially trained dogsWorked closely with Development and Executive Director to secure funding through prospect research, database management and fundraising event planning. Supported Exec team to develop a $4.4 million Capital Campaign, which allowed us to sign a purchase agreement on our own building and add kennel space to meet the needs of more clients and more dogs.

Managed diverse membership programs for a portfolio of clients, which included organizations such as the Association of Fundraising Professionals, League of Women Voters, Minnesota Planned Giving Council, and Corporate Volunteerism Council.
