I am a recent Colorado State University graduate with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Psychology. While I loved living in Colorado, I decided to move back to sunny Southern California in early January and am loving being back by the beach again! I am currently a Legal Assistant and Intake Coordinator at Newman.Aaronson.Vanaman, a special education law firm in the San Fernando Valley. My job includes working with parents in getting their special needs children the services they require through the school district or Regional Center. I also have helped co-coordinate our offices NAVTalk Seminars, which are our community outreach to parents and professionals. While at Colorado State I completed an internship at Turning Point Center for Youth and Family Development. This was a incredible opportunity where I was taught and able to use cognitive behavioral therapy tools with clients who suffered from mental health, behavioral and substance abuse issues. During my time at Turning Point I created a new recreation program at their school, the Waverly School, which has been a great success. While I learned so much in the classroom throughout my time at CSU, it was this internship where I felt the most engaged and capable and inspired. I learned so much from this experience and am very grateful for it. I am very much interested in continuing my education in the form of a Masters Degree because I truly enjoy the leaning process and want to see where the next step takes me. Knowledge is power!
