My role at the Morgan involves managing all aspects of the school programs calendar and field trips; including liaising with teachers, scheduling school programs, collecting payment, managing our educator's assignments and schedules, and completing necessary prep for each field trip both virtual and in-person. I also perform vital administrative tasks such as tracking the total attendance of all programs and tracking departmental spending.

My position at LIM was dedicated to creating and implementing history and art-based school and family programming, assisting with the planning and execution of various special events and educational programs for a variety of audiences, and performing administrative tasks vital to the functionality of the Education Department. Position-specific tasks included: developing and leading the museum’s in-school outreach initiative, teaching school programs, maintaining and preparing supplies for all programs, creating new programs and materials for changing exhibitions, leading our family book club, planning and teaching after school history programs, tracking and submitting department income and statistics, and booking programs.

As a Per Diem Educator, I worked within all of the sub-departments of Education; School Programs, Out of School Time Programs, Community Engagement, and Access. Programs were history, space, aviation, or water themed and tailored to meet the learning and curriculum needs of the visitors.

As an Educator, I mainly led inquiry and object-based museum and in-school outreach programs with school groups pre-k through college. These programs were aligned with Social Studies Common Core standards and catered to all levels and learning types. Flexibility, improvisation, and advanced knowledge of American history were required for success. Occasional public and family programming quickly became part of my repertoire.

During this internship, I was responsible for assisting in coordinating the Student Historian Program, a summer program for teens interested in history and museum education. I assisted in developing projects for the students and helped the students in their research and along their path to becoming historians.

This exciting summer internship allowed me to create my own themed tours of the museum halls to present to visiting camp groups. In addition, I learned about inquiry education and worked with children to discover new ideas and information on the museum 'touch' carts, and volunteered in The Discovery Room: an educational playroom for younger children to play and learn about history, anthropology, and science.
