My role is to grow and embed the Palliative Care program into other specialties and develop connections along the continuum while continuing to optimize operational opportunities. I am working with physicians and other clinicians within and external to Palliative Care and administrative leadership at the organization, regional, and system level to develop buy in for one consistent program across all our sites. We need to become more cohesive across and throughout the continuum, developing relationships amongst all providers to ensure that patients can receive consistent, fluid care regardless of where they are along the care continuum. As a region, we must enhance the communication skills of all providers. When all providers can effectively provide primary Palliative Care, our Palliative Care Specialists will be able to focus on specialty Palliative Care. We negotiate with a patient and their family when a patient's goals do not correspond with their prognosis, provide specialty symptom management, provide highly skilled shared decision making skills, and promote advanced care planning within the team atmosphere.
