Appointed by Michigan Governor Rick Snyder in 2018. The Michigan Trails Advisory Council is a volunteer-based group that advises the Department of Natural Resources and the governor on the creation, development, operation and maintenance of motorized and nonmotorized trails in the state, including snowmobile, biking, equestrian, hiking, off-road vehicle and skiing trails.

Served as APR Chair from 2020-2022; Served as Treasurer 2018 and 2019.

Designed and managed a program that trained faculty how to publicly communicate their research to a non-scientific audience using shared language, analogies and a variety of communication channels. Told the great stories of MSU by writing and pitching stories, responding to media, and providing media training to faculty and staff.Served as university spokesperson and handled issues and crises during a time of uncertainty, as well as helping the university prepare for a crisis through designing and executing a campus-wide simulation exercise.
