Underground Tour GuideWorld Museum Of Mining Aug 2016 - Jul 2017Butte, MontanaAt the WMOM there is an underground tour of the historic Orphan Girl mine. This tour involves a short "surface" tour and then an underground tour. This job requires knowledge of historic mining in Butte, knowledge of mining practices (both modern and historic), and keeping the people on the tours safe while giving them a factual and fun tour. During the time that the museum is closed (from October 31st-April 1st) I have been working on office work for the museum. This job includes photographing, identifying, researching, and putting objects into the archiving program. My favorite part of this winter task is working on the Roy Garrett Rock and Mineral Collection, which has allowed me to view many different specimens of rocks and work on my identification skills.
