Lead engineer for several of the company’s product families. Engineered electromechanically integrated components including PCB boards and custom high-power quick connectors. Constructed prototypes integrating handmade metal parts, 3D printed components and existing stock to create full size samples for evaluation and testing. Responsible for maintaining the Solidworks based PDM system used throughout the company.

Decreased order processing time by introducing BOM-based ordering and kitting methodologies. Assembled and assessed multiple lighting fixture prototypes, provided engineering feedback on manufacturability, cost efficiency, assembly and overall product design. Created in-shop self-updating visual production board for up to the minute production status and weekly forecasts.

Supervised and directly contributed to the redevelopment of 6 of the company’s main product lines. Instituted and taught modeling techniques across the engineering team to increase the efficiency of new fixture developments. Efficiently scheduled engineering workload to include stock product development, multiple customizations, and several complex custom fixtures meeting critical deadlines. Introduced product order codes formalizing the order process and setting the groundwork for the company’s transition from a custom shop into a product based company.

Tasked with the engineering, drawings, assembly & installation instructions of more than 80 custom high-end lighting fixtures. Standardized drawing processes introducing industry standard drawing techniques and methodologies. Introduced and developed industry-standard photometric data files using TracePro lighting simulation & analysis software. Traveled to jobsites across the country to supervise the installation of several of the company’s largest projects.

Designed and developed tooling within Solidworks for the production runs of ceramic body armor for US government contracts. Initiated the design of a custom built press machine for processing raw ceramic components to decrease manufacturing time and waste. Participated in the transition of the division’s ERP system, guiding part number development, evaluating training instructions and providing data migration support. Provided instruction and troubleshooting support for several custom built testing machines and furnaces.
