Jesús Sierra holds a BSc in Physics from Simón Bolivar University, Venezuela and in 1998 a MsC. in Earth and Planetary Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.), USA. With over 30 years of petroleum experience, managing integrated G&G projects, resource assessment and drilling operation in exploration and production, he founded IGS a G&G services company with 18 years in the market serving companies across the Latin America region. Jesús worked for PDVSA-Intevep for 14 years holding positions as researcher and projects leader and later, he has been geophysical advisor for companies like Paradigm-Pemex, BP-Venezuela, Pacific Rubiales, Teikoku, Petrotrin, Trinmar, Ecopetrol, Drummond, Hocol and Pentanova Energy. Has authored over 30 technical papers in specialized journals and international technical events. Jesús is a well-recognized specialist in AVO, seismic inversion and attributes for seismic reservoir characterization. Among Jesus’ duties he has been project leader in managing exploration and field development programs including coordination and addressing of drilling, workovers and completion of wells, designing and coordination of seismic acquisition campaigns and integrated geoscience studies for seismic reservoir characterization and evaluation of assets. Jesús experience includes onshore and offshore main basins in Venezuela, Colombia and Mexico and Louisiana and Texas basins in USA. In the last two years Jesús has been structuring projects in the energy transition, blue and turquoise hydrogen production and renewable energy, leading projects and advising companies in the sector.
