Mechanical Engineer Iii
CurrentMechanical Sustainment Engineer for the Electromagnetic Aircraft Launching System (EMALS), and Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG)Main Tasks:-Dispositioned over 70 quality notifications to address nonconformance of parts and assemblies.-Proposed around 35 drawing change requests to mitigate nonconformance of parts.-Processed around 70 engineering change notices to address proposed drawing updates, which involved GD&T, interference and fit stack-up analysis, stress calculations, minimum thread engagement, addressing parts obsolescence, etc.Projects:EMALS Motor Stator Coils Seizing Problem-Short Term Solution: Created an extraction tooling table that is strong enough to withstand the forces applied to extract a motor stator coil from a defective mold assembly. The task involved the use of CAD software (SolidWorks and Creo), FEA (SolidWorks Simulation), calculations of minimum thread engagement, and GD&T.-Long Term Solution: Created a new mold assembly to prevent seizing problems of resin-coated motor stator coils. The task involved the use of CAD software (SolidWorks and Creo), calculations of minimum thread engagement, O-Ring fit calculations, and GD&T.Reference Documents for Streamlining Processes-Lead the creation of documents that record the daily activities of Sustainment Engineers to aid future hires in performing work more efficiently.
