► Designed and developed LASER-based bar code scanning and LASER-range finding products for the shipping, material handling and warehousing industries. ---------------------------■ Co-inventor (US Patent 5979760 A) of a laser scanner with linear actuator-based lens positioning system.■ Reduced cost and improved performance of products by simplifying circuitry and replacing old technology parts with newer, high performance parts; increased scanner’s ability to read smaller codes at farther distances.■ Designed Company’s smallest, lowest cost scanner for harsh environments and embedded applications.■ Developed a low cost, laser power meter, which reduced scanner setup time and sped up service work.■ Led a team in design of a low cost, compact, laser distance measuring system.■ Lead engineer in the Product Engineering Group. ► Designed “QuickCheck II” a completely portable PC-based AC magnetic system that diagnosed health of check valves in nuclear power plants, which allowed the valves to be tested “in system.” Researched the nature of magnetic fields and designed a proprietary method that measured small changes in the magnetic field as the valve operated normally.---------------------------■ Reduced the size of the system to fit inside an industrial, portable PC by incorporating all electronics onto a single PC board, with the exception of the power amplifier.■ Improved the overall system, which was portable enough for a plant engineer or technician to carry freely throughout the power plant.

► Designed high reliability electronics for satellite communication programs including linear and switch-mode power supplies. Performed analytical and computer circuit analysis. Wrote test procedures and performance specs and assisted with integration, testing and manufacturing.

► Naval Air Development Center ─ Warminster, PASCIENTIST (co-op)■ Determined the reliability of an electronic compass used by the Navy in the Arctic region. Designed a system that simulated the earth’s magnetic field in the lab and recorded compass response to strong and weak fields. Wrote an analysis report included test descriptions, methods and recommendations on compass sensitivity and accuracy. ---------------------------► GE ASTRO-SPACE ─ East Windsor, NJAssociate Engineer ■ Designed and constructed special test equipment. Generated parts lists and drawing. Prototyped and tested analog, digital and power supply circuits.
