A copy editor who wants to bring engrossing stories into the world.I was born with a passion for storytelling. Before I could read or write my dutiful parents laid on the floor with me, action figures in hand, and took my directions on how to act out the latest adventures of the Transformers and Ninja Turtles. That enthusiasm for stories translated over to books when I learned how to read.My degree in Creative Writing is so much more than a diploma: it's three semesters of work at Sonoma State's literary magazine. It's the process of resurrecting the English Student's Association and hosting the Open Mic events. Most importantly, it's how I learned to be a part of a team.For thirteen years, I worked in customer service, which taught me that it wasn't just smiling and telling the customer they're right; it's about solving problems on the fly and communicating with your clients. I've always picked up new ideas quickly and working at a drugstore, clothing retailer, and a bank put that ability to the test. I didn't always succeed, but when those moments came, I was ready to reach out for help to prevail.My first step in achieving my goal came when I joined Crittenden Research. I cut my teeth on researching retail chains and insurance companies for our database before my chief editor asked me to write liability settlement claims. Before long, I was regarded as the settlement expert, learning all there was to know regarding liability litigation. When I wasn’t composing briefs, I was the penultimate stop for the company’s Insurance Newsletter and Retail Report, hunting down misplaced or misspelled words, errant fragments, and loose punctuation.In my spare time, I am attempting to write that elusive first novel, delving into rich, story-driven media, and leading my friends on weekly adventures in my D&D campaign.I am looking for new opportunities to flex my proofreading and editing muscles and help nurture great stories for the public.
