RStudio Team) as an early use case. Provided performant remote development environments to dozens of exploratory data engineers. As an Engineering Manager for SRE within the TechOps organization, I managed direct reports embedded across the Cloud Services, Release Engineering, Identity and Access Management, and Data Platforms teams. At Rabbit, I coordinated the engineering and 24x7 operations of a 25,000-instance global infrastructure. Rabbit's SRE team produced performant, reliable infrastructures that enabled our developers to deliver features faster, using a mixture of public and private cloud and physical infrastructure to effectively balance our needs of infrastructure agility and cost management. We used tools including Terraform, Chef, the Elastic stack, and Grafana along with a lot of highly-customized management tooling to move fast without (too frequently) breaking things.Once upon a time, when Rabbit was a smaller company, I also pinch-hit as a software engineer on the core Rabbit product (backend, frontend, and analytics).

During the AOL Transition Program that followed the AOL Time Warner split, I led the Systems Integration group within Time Inc., using Puppet and other automation tools to help migrate several hundred server instances from a single AOL datacenter to a multi-datacenter environment with Savvis. I worked to bridge gaps between operations and engineering, and developed tools to give operations better visibility into modifications in the rapidly-changing server environment.

As a member of the IT Systems and Storage team, I was responsible for design and implementation of core systems infrastructure, including 500+ Linux/Solaris servers and over 100 TB of SAN storage.

I administered a heterogeneous Windows, Linux and FreeBSD infrastructure for 1,000 web hosting, dedicated server and VPS customers in a 24x7 environment. In addition, I developed large portions of the hosting automation platform, allowing users to perform activities like automatic provisioning of MySQL/MSSQL/PostgreSQL database services through their user control panel.
