About Joan Guzman
I am a first-generation Dominican American and a first-generation college graduate as of May 2024. I majored in Computer Information Systems and double minored in Computer Science and Japanese at Baruch College, CUNY. I have always been fascinated and passionate about technology and programming. I have taken the initiative to learn programming skills, even using my free time to teach myself the basics of Python. I have used FreeCodeCamp's "Scientific Computing with Python" course to teach me the fundamentals of Python up to complex data structures networking, relational databases, and data visualization.As a Full Stack Development Fellow at CUNY Tech Prep, I learned industry best practices for design, implementation, and deployment such as MVC, version control with Git/GitHub, agile & Scrum with Trello and Slack, test-driven development, and CI/CD. In my technical project, TuneTalk, I developed a Music Reviewing website with a team of 5 that allows users to search, and create reviews for tracks or albums. I utilized the Spotify API to retrieve information on tracks and albums, created. I formed a database using Express and PostgreSQL to store and get users' saved tracks and albums and implemented a user-friendly interface using React, Tailwind CSS, and Material UI.
