At Chemostrat my role is to develop and implement new strategies to enhance the commercial exploitation of geochemical data within the oil and gas sectors. This can range from the deployment of new analytical techniques at well-site through to developing new regional geological studies.In the past few years I have developed a passion for data visualization and analysis. Having become proficient in the use of Spotfire/R/Python/Julia, I have developed several Spotfire apps for stratigraphic correlation and data integration. This has included linking various different datasets together from seismic/wireline and lab data in order to understand how they all link together and create an over picture of the subsurface environment.I have gained over 25 years’ experience of geochemical and geological data interpretation, during which I have been responsible both for the upfront data analysis and final interpretation. This wide range of knowledge enables me to handle and integrate data from many different sources (geochemical, petrophysics, biostratigraphy, heavy minerals, etc) into complex geological models to help understand stratigraphic and rock properties.Career highlights so far include;• Development of novel spotfire apps for geological data. • First ever deployment of well-site chemostratigraphy in the world.• Development of in-house ICP-OES/ICP-MS and XRF laboratories• Over 100,000 geochemical samples analysed by ICP analysis in the Chemostrat in-house laboratories.• Very high, externally checked geochemical data quality which competes with the best laboratories in the world.• Development of regional geochemical studies from the Barents Sea to the Bowland shale.• Interpretation of over 250 wells from the Jurassic, Triassic, Permian and Carboniferous of the North SeaGoing forward there are many exciting challenges and opportunities left to exploit both in the laboratory and at the well-site for geochemical data.
