In Korea, the “hard workers” are sometimes erroneously seen as those that always stay in the office the longest. But Jihun, with his efficiency and time management, embodies the true spirit of that phrase. He has a genuine passion for providing the best possible service to our clients, and doesn’t waste time at moments when many others would be tempted to. I was impressed by his level of productivity, and despite being his senior in both age and professional experience, I learned perseverance, grit, and much more by watching him work. Among Jihun’s responsibilities were providing progress reports and general communication to the parents of the students I was managing. In the college admissions consulting terrain in Korea, this is no easy task. Ensuring parents’ needs and expectations are either met or managed, reducing student and parent anxiety during busy season, and all in all keeping everyone happy and up-to-date, largely fell on Jihun’s shoulders. There were many times where I reached out to Jihun because his established relationships with parents, founded in trust and openness, were instrumental to influencing students. One text from him sometimes had the effect of three of my own reminder emails to students. What’s more, Jihun was proactive, preemptively addressing potential problems and actively tracking progress to make sure results or milestones were reached on time. He would check in with me and offer help at what seemed like just the right moments. I look forward to seeing Jihun’s continued growth as he carves his career path. I will definitely remember his diligence and care, and know he’ll continue to make impactful contributions no matter where he works.
