Grew the vegetable plugs and finished flats in spring, flowering annuals such as mums and sunflowers in fall. Gained experience in watering, fertilizing, and maintaining proper light and temperature; learned proper handling and mixing of chemicals such as Sumagic, Phyton, and Mallet, and now have an Ohio Pesticide Applicator's licence; attended Cultivate horticulture convention to get educated about techniques and equipment that could improve production.

Assisted in the maintenance of the city's natural areas and woodlot parks. Duties included removal of invasive plants, restoration of oak-hickory canopy, planting native shrub and herbaceous understory, encouraging floral diversity in pollinator gardens, and beautifying the land and medicinal garden surrounding a historic cabin. Learned how to use a chainsaw, stump grinder, and Dingo-mounted soil auger.

Supported the development of disease-resistant hybrids of the iconic American Elm (Ulmus americana). Duties included seed orchard maintenance; rooting branch cuttings to create varietal clones for study; maintaining cleanliness in the research greenhouse; compiling collected data.

Received and stocked grocery items, answered customer questions and rang up sales. Ordered pet food and reset that section to increase sales and decrease waste from out-dated product.

Assisted in data collection for the Fire and Fire Surrogate (FFS) Study; measured overstory tree DBH and health status; tallied sapling and seedling numbers in established plots; compared oak regeneration rates versus competitor species under different forest treatment protocols; collected mast samples and monitored amount of production; set up study plots for testing of Ailanthus wilt. Also maintained public buildings and landscape around the station office.

Opened and patrolled the park, picking up litter and monitoring trails for hazards and guest safety. Enforced park rules, assisted park visitors and overnight lodge guests as needed. Used ATVs and power tools to maintain landscape.

Assisted in post-doc research projects; took soil respiration readings, collected weed biomass samples, measured tree basal diameters and DBH in experimental tree plots.

Monitored new landscape plantings on campus, reported problems such as plant death or weed infestations; researched plant pathology, soil conditions, insect issues; assisted in new plantings and grounds maintenance as needed.

Assisted the Grocery Manager in ordering, stocking, and inventory; learned about use and benefits of supplements, answered customer questions as my knowledge allowed. As Receiving Coordinator, was responsible for opening incoming shipments from small vendors, verifying the accuracy of the shipment to the invoice, and entering the new stock into the inventory database.

Began as Front-End manager, supervising cashiers and customer service staff. Did cash drops and rang up sales as needed during the shift, ran daily total reports and balanced cash drawers at the end of the night shifts. Moved to the Grocery department as an assistant buyer, focusing on ordering from the smaller vendors as needed and assisting with the daily ordering from our main supplier.
