A native of the Birmingham, Alabama area. A registered nurse with over 29 years of nursing experience. A graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham-Bachelors of Science in Nursing program in 1993 and the University of Alabama Masters of Science in Nursing program in 2004. My experience includes providing medical care for pediatric medical-surgical patients at The Children's Hospital of Alabama. Responsibilities included bedside nursing, quality improvement, staff training, unit preceptor, and charge nurse. Experience in development of a community based health improvement and disease prevention program at the Florida DOH. Upon my return to Birmingham, Al I broaden my nursing experience at UAB to include medical research overseeing 100 clinical research centers based in the US, Canada, UK, and Sweden. During my 24 years in research I have had multiple job responsibilities including program administration, budget development, regulatory reporting, data management, data collection form development, protocol/manual of procedures development, informed consent development and review, site training and site support. I am a co-author of several medical research articles. I am currently working as a Research Nurse Manager in the Department of Pediatrics at The University of Alabama at Birmingham-Infectious Diseases Division. My responsibilities include overseeing 30 clinical research sites located in the United States, Canada, Peru and the United Kingdom. I work with the central unit's lead PI to develop ancillary study documents,, i.e. study manual of procedures, informed consents, source document worksheets and electronic data entry systems. I collaborate with the pharma companies to ensure that the clinical trial investigational product is current, we have adequate supply and reporting any SAEs. Some of my daily responsibilities include working with the clinical sites to ensure that they are implementing the study protocol according to ICH-GCP, data is entered in a timely manner and answering any questions.
