"My son said he's the dumbest kid in class, but that's not true!""My daughter is so smart. Why does homework take all day?!""My son's self-esteem is suffering because he has trouble with reading, but I know he's smart!"As a parent, it's heartbreaking to watch your smart child struggle in school. Accommodating a learning challenge as a long-term solution is NOT necessary or fair.Brain research gives us proof that most learning and attention challenges can be permanently corrected. Yet traditional education is still treating children with learning problems with the “once learning disabled always learning disabled” model. Things have changed! Children and adults do NOT have to go through life crippled and frustrated by their learning challenges. As founder and executive director of Stowell Learning Centers, I get the incredible privilege of walking alongside families as they move from tears and fights over homework to having children who are comfortable, confident, and independent learners.I recently authored a book entitled, “At Wit’s End: A Parent’s Guide to Ending the Struggle, Tears, and Turmoil of Learning Disabilities.” It is available through Amazon. Additionally, my husband David and I are passionate about trying to help 750,000 children eliminate their learning disabilities in the next five years. Since we can’t possibly do this all on our own, we train and support others around the world (so far, U.S., Canada, and Kuwait) in the clinical and business aspects of developing their own learning centers to do this work. It is an exhilarating mission with terrific people in it!When not working, writing, or speaking, I enjoy spending time with my husband and grown children (when we’re on the same continent!), praising God, riding bikes at the beach, and traveling.Specialties: Learning disabilities, ADHD, Dyslexia, auditory processing, cognitive training, reading and math remediation; professional educational training; speaking; writing.

We Work With Children And Adults With Various Learning And Attention Challenges | FounderStowell Learning Center Jan 1984 - PresentWww.Stowellcenter.Com | 877-774-0444Stowell Learning Center opened in 1984 to help children and adults with dyslexia, learning disabilities, and other learning and attention challenges. In the past 30 years we have helped over 5,000 students and their families overcome the devastation of learning problems. Our students have gone from special education to graduation with honors, to college, and many even have masters and doctorate degrees. Our goal for each student, regardless of age, is that he/she becomes as comfortable and independent a learner as possible. In order to do this, we work closely with parents, communicate with schools, and are continually seeking to find and implement the most effective, research based, efficient strategies and programs. Stowell Learning Centers work with a very comprehensive continuum of learning skills that allows us to create programming for each student that is very specific to his or her needs. We work one-on-one with students in a positive, caring environment to provide proven, brain-based instruction that is targeted to their specific needs and learning style. What Parents Say: “Thought you would be interested to know that Jared has made the Principal’s Honor Roll at Sonrise Christian School for both semesters with a 3.75 GPA. Needless to say Gerry and I are very proud of him but we certainly give most of the credit to Stowell Learning Center. Learning does not come easy to Jared but with the tools your program provided, he has definitely gained the leading edge. Thank you for your commitment to helping our children.” -Joanne CaccamoEvery day we hear the stories from parents about what learning problems are doing to their children and their families. It breaks our hearts to hear them when we know that there are very real, do-able answers for these bright children and their families.Have a child or adult in need?In Chino - Call (909)598-2482In Orange County - Call (949)477-4133 -
