-Assist and mentor residents struggling with academics, roommates, and mental health concerns, referring them to campus resources when appropriate-Hold individual meetings with residents to establish personal relationships and submit relevant notes to Residence Life-Create, advertise and coordinate the facilitation of social, academic and community service programming to foster a strong sense of community among residents-Survey residence halls five times a month to ensure safety and document policy violations-Confront and document incidents violating Stonehill College policies, as well as provide assistance after the incident if there are concerns

-Provided assistance in office including answering phone, and doing research on local food pantries, food kitchens, and GED credential programs to provide resources for residents and clients -Attended a 25 hour domestic violence counselor certification program for the state of Massachusetts-Assisted child life specialist in searching for low cost activities for kids, and documented them for future implementation-Created a presentation to inform mothers about the best ways to talk to their children about domestic violence-Observed and answered Respond’s 24-hour crisis hotline to assist and respond to various questions, while providing emotional support to clients

-Created and facilitated ice breakers, games, sports, and other activities for youth ages 11-14 both on trips and at the Cormier Youth Center-Facilitated positive interactions between youth through taking day trips to various outdoor locations in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island-Attended and supervised overnight trips to Martha’s Vineyard and a white water rafting trip in Maine-Supervised day trips for middle and high school students with autism to local areas including trampoline parks, video game stores, ice cream shops, and ponds for swimming and kayaking

-Supervised homeless children as well as local volunteers during play-space shifts -Conducted structured play experiences for young children age 0-8 including singing routine songs, clean up routines, and craft projects -Performed conflict resolution strategies to address behavioral issues with children and practical issues experienced by volunteers-Assisted with various administrative tasks including data entry, phone interviews with volunteers’ references, and stocking play-space bins with toys-Advocate for community organization through writing letters to long-term volunteers and posting flyers in nearby towns

-Tutored and mentored elementary school students impacted by homelessness in math and English-Completed tutor training prior to working with students; tutor training covered topics including homelessness, laws and policy regarding homelessness, and tutoring strategies -Drove to local homeless shelters to provide age-appropriate homework lessons to students, adapting to individual student needs and abilities-Acted as a role model to students, and built lasting trust and relationships to encourage good study habits and create future goals

-Conducted individual math, reading, and writing tutoring lessons with English Language Learning (ELL) elementary school students after school -Designed project aimed at having several ELL students write “About Me” books to both encourage students to continue to improve and enjoy practicing the English language

-Engaged veterans in fun activities, including sports, card games, and other physical activities to encourage an active lifestyle-Socialized with residents over coffee in order to establish a positive healing environment-Assisted with preparations for a Columbus Day cookout, as well as facilitating activities with the residents during the event-Wrote a paper documenting the overall experience of working with veterans who were receiving spinal care treatment
