Trained graduate and undergraduate students in the development of porous anodized alumina templates and the fabrication of chitosan nano-tubes.

Worked on a joint project with Dr. Jon Stewart and Dr. Charles Martin to develop biodegradable nano-tube drug delivery vehicles via a template synthesis method. I fabricated porous anodized alumina which was used as a mold to create nano-tubes.

Teaching Assistant for the Department of Biomedical Engineering for the Problem Based Learning Course. I facilitated discussions amongst graduate students about current engineering problems.

Designed and taught Biomedical Engineering, Medicine and Social Implications, a course for high school students enrolled in the Students in Science Training Program. Introduced research topics in Medical/Biomedical Engineering fields by organizing a series of guest lecturers from industry and researchers at UF. Facilitated and graded student’s presentations and papers.

Worked in the Strategic Planning department to analyze historical and future consumption rates of reclaimed water in the city. Prepared surveys and interviewed other utility companies about their reclaimed water systems, in order to make GRU’s reclaimed water system more efficient.

Worked with a group of UF engineering students and the Water-Wastewater Department at Gainesville Regional Utilities to design chlorine booster stations and assess the feasibility of installing the stations. Used WaterCAD to model the drinking water distribution system and to determine the strategic placement of the booster stations within the system.

Researched the effect of surface rigidity on drug flux. The findings from these experiments aided in studies of interfacial rigidity and manipulation of drug flux into and out of microemulsions, which were later investigated for applications in drug detoxification.
