Developed and launched a Canadian Advocacy Strategy with strategic tactics and program aimed at advocating on behalf of the internal audit profession in Canada. The strategy was developed with input from Canadian internal audit leaders and chapters. The strategy also included a formalized public comment process with key stakeholder input and a compliance strategy to adhere to federal and provincial government lobbyist registry requirements. Established a Canadian Advocacy Working Group (CAWG) to proactively engage member chapters and coordinate advocacy initiatives including collaboration on matters requiring subject matter expertise such as public comment letters. This efforts support public consultation responses to the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) and the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA).Attended corporate governance engagement-related conferences to advance the profile of the profession and build collaborative relationships. These included the International Corporate Governance Network (ICGN), Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) and Governance Professionals of Canada (GPC).Led the design of a Canada wide research project to identify policy gaps and opportunities for the internal audit profession.

The approach included the creation of a grassroots program, comprehensive outreach strategy for elected officials and collaborative cross-industry approach to information sharing for the purpose of collective advancement. Engaged with internal and external stakeholders and partners to enhance the profile of chiropractors in Ontario and support chiropractic patients by identifying potential partners within the healthcare sector and systematically connecting to build strategic connections that furthered the impact of organizational priorities and projectsCreated and branded an innovative virtual patient engagement program, the Partnership4BetterHealth, which sought to directly engage patients through virtual surveys and forums in the spirit of learning about patient experiences in Ontario’s health care system.

Transferred to the Canadian Credit Union Association (CCUA), continued responsibilities from previous role at Central 1 Credit Union. Collaborated with credit unions and government relations teams to successfully advocate for and obtain a government commitment to review and modernize Ontario's Credit Union and Caisses Populaires Act (CUCPA), 1994, in the 2019 Budget, after 24 years. This is an ongoing project. Assisted in forming and leading working groups aimed at achieving several sector objectives including the development and implementation of a Market Conduct Code for consumer protection, reviewing and revising the current CUCPA and engaging with the Financial Services Regulator Authority (FSRA), the sector's new regulator. Attended numerous municipal conferences and engaged Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs) to advocate for the needs of the credit union sector, including their inclusion in financial legislation and policies. Collaborated with colleagues to develop and respond to government consultations including financial literacy, implementation of FSRA, principles based regulation and data strategy. Successfully advocated for the inclusion of credit unions as financial service options in the Ontario Curriculum: Secondary (Grade 10).

Transferred to the Canadian Credit Union Association (CCUA). Worked collaboratively to support credit unions in Ontario through research, advocacy and government relations. Monitored and assessed the impact of government policies, initiatives and regulations on credit unions. Assisted with the development and delivery of seminars relating to legislative and governmental processes and developments, as well as major events such as Advocacy Days. Led and coordinated consultation groups with sector experts and leaders, to provide industry insight into new policy initiatives.
