Fresh out of college with an English degree and no professional reporting experience, my first newspaper editor saw my potential and hired me as a general beat reporter. Seasoned reporters and editors mentored me as I reported on everything from the latest court trial to a new event benefiting a nonprofit organization. Throughout my 15+ years as a writer and editor, I have learned how to meet deadlines and juggle many assignments without sacrificing quality. Following graduate school in a journalism program, my career led me to more niche publishing environments in the promotions department of the state's largest newspaper and eventually to the Arkansas capital city’s premier magazine. As senior features editor, part of my job was to develop and execute social media content across various platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and the magazine’s blog. I collaborated with the editorial team to create original content and help manage our partnerships with key civic leaders. I'm now loving working in the nonprofit world at Easterseals Arkansas where I am the marketing & public relations coordinator. I also freelance occasionally for local publications and businesses.
