About Jill Kolling

Recognized as a trailblazer in Sustainability, I am a thought leader, accomplished entrepreneur, board member and global corporate executive. With a unique combination of engineering and communications expertise, I have developed ESG strategies that incorporate marketing and advocacy to enhance brand value and deliver commercial results. My background spans tech, diversified manufacturing, food, agriculture and building products. I am a sought-after speaker and media spokesperson on strategies for creating competitive advantage through sustainability. As James Hardie’s first Chief Sustainability Officer and member of the Executive Leadership Team, I am driving the end-to-end development and execution of the corporation’s ESG strategy as a key enabler of future growth. I am also a member of the Advisory Board for WorkStep, a software company helping organizations engage and retain their frontline workforce through AI predictive analytics. Previously as Vice President, Global Sustainability at Cargill, I built the first-ever global sustainability function for the corporation. I began my career as a new product engineer with HP, then transitioned into consulting where I provided advisory services in the areas of technology, strategy, and ESG to public and private companies. Known for strong influence and advisory skills, I have helped companies facing customer, investor, and activist NGO pressure to cut through the noise and chart a clear path forward. Approachable and results-oriented, I am adept at engaging stakeholders and understanding varying viewpoints in decision making. I am relied upon for my strategic insights and systems thinking, and optimizing shareholder value, positive environmental outcome, and social good.
