Senior Engineering Manager, Mechanical Systems Model 4000 Type Certificate, (Tc)
Coordinated Mechanical Systems, Flight Control and Environmental Control Systems groups during the certification of the Model 4000. Interacted with Raytheon internal design teams and flight/ ground testing groups, and externally with the Program supplier base in conjunction with supply chain management. Conducted program reviews and system level presentations internally with senior leadership teams and externally with suppliers and the FAA.Mechanical systems consisted of landing gear, nose wheel steering, anti-skid, wheels, tires and brakes, emergency landing gear extension, aircraft hydraulic power generation, oxygen, and pitot/static systems. Flight Control Group consisted of mechanical aileron and elevator, hydraulically powered rudder, spoiler roll control, ground lift dump, electrical flap, and pitch systems. Environmental Control System consisted of pressurization, cockpit and cabin control, ice detection, electrical horizontal tail anti-ice, bleed air wing anti ice and bleed leak detection systems.Activities included baseline design, follow on design changes, component qualification, aircraft ground and flight testing developmental/ certification, report writing and the formal finding/showing of certification compliance using FAR’s for guidance. At the completion of this assignment Type Certification (TC) was accomplished for the model 4000.
Business Unit Manager
Responsible for determining the facility location, design of the Plant layout, internal set up of all manufacturing equipment, plus hiring and training the work force using formal computer systems. Responsible for budget, profit and loss statements, schedules, program reviews, capital equipment requirement development and acquisition. I conducted daily staff meetings to communicate requirements and highlight results. Built a customer base to support tubing and duct manufacturing in the Midwest region. We implemented a quality system and engineering requirements review process for production fabrication and assembly purposes. I employed and supervised twenty-eight employees including eight indirect professionals, fourteen direct labor, and six part-time employees. During this period I implemented lean manufacturing principles, the cellularization of product lines, Five S, formal Kaizen events, the Andon System, as well as Kanban and Process Maps. My greatest accomplishment was the facilitation of a Long Term Agreement with a major OEM, involving their offloading four thousand part numbers to Tubetronics Inc.

Responsibilities included, but were not limited to: Landing gear design, anti-skid system design, wheels, tires and brake design, emergency landing gear extend system design, aircraft hydraulic system design and landing gear retract system design. I worked closely with Dale Cox, DOA for Landing Gear and Hydraulic Systems for the Premier 1 program to comply with the following regulations: FAR 23.333, 23.337, 23.1309, 23.1435 and 23.1438. Our group worked towards the afore mentioned FAR requirements to certify and comply with the petition for exemption by Raytheon Aircraft Corporation, dated 8/13/96, which incorporates the requirements of the following regulations: FAR 25.235, 25.471, 25.473, 25.477, 25.479, 25.481, 25.483, 25.487, 25.489, 25.493, 25.721, 25.725, 25.727 and 25.729.
